Cut Down

Hello Cyber World!!

I am a 28 year old female and I am half Hispanic and half African American. I decided to start blogging because I am stuck in a rut and am incredibly private. I work in retail so I will use examples of human behavior from people I encounter in my job but I ‘ll also have opinions about different subjects in general.

I am the type of person who has a hard time taking risks and so I figured this would be a good exercise for me. It will help me open up and have something to look forward to. Because I am so private and I will now be opening up to quite a few of you I have decided to get a pen name. I picked Rae (Ray) Myst…hmmmm…. doesn’t it sound a bit like a porn actress name?  Anyway the reason why this is such a risk for me is because being this public scares the shit out of me! I can already feel my stomach grumbling in nervousness (hopefully that’s all it is). The reason why its so scary is because social media is scary. People have become so negative. If celebrities can’t catch a break with social media it will be just as ruthless with me… a nobody.

I have heard and read about quite a few stories where people just cut celebs down like crazy but the one that bothered me the most so far was this whole debacle with the casting of 50 Shades. I know… we’ve pretty much moved on, or have we? People and the media are still talking about it. I just didn’t think it was right when people started sending out a petition (something I had never seen before) to try to get rid of Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson.

Now I don’t know Charlie (seems to have gotten more heat than Dakota) and I most certainly don’t love him but he does deserve to be respected. Until recently I didn’t know who he was so I was shocked when he was announced. It took me a few minutes to get used to the idea but after I saw him without the facial hair I thought he made a great candidate. I saw him in Pacific Rim  recently so I was a tad disappointed when we all heard that he had dropped out, especially when his acting didn’t make me cringe (my way of saying I think he is good).

Charlie, if you’re reading this (inconceivable I know) just wanted to let you know that I think you would have made a great Christian Grey and I am sure I am not the only one who thinks the same (You are probably sick of all this anyway).

I understand why fans were upset but at the end of the day the author knows the characters better than we all do, so if she thought a blond from England was the right choice isn’t that all that matters? Think of it this way:

You get this job that you are extremely excited about and on your first day your employers start a petition to let you go based on the way you look without ever letting you show them your worth. If this has happened to you let me know. How did it make you feel? We need to think about how our actions and words hurt others but we are only human and sometimes people can really push our buttons. I get really worked up as you might notice on my upcoming posts.
